Englische Woche in Köflach? Keine Ahnung was Dich heute erwartet?
Hello my name is Rachel
I came to Austria for two weeks at the end of August to stay with Pia and family to be a native English speaker to help the boys and family learn and speak English. After a week in Vienna we came to Köflach to stay with the family Wascher.
We came to Köflach by train and I was blown away by the scenery that could be seen from the window of your seat as we made our way through the mountains. There were forests that lasted for kilometres, beautiful coloured houses and endless blue sky.
Upon arriving into Köflach I saw a quiet quaint little town that reminded me of the one I live in so instantly felt at home. Köflach was a lovely place to spend a week with plenty to do.
Some of my highlights were
Exploring the area around and going to the church in barnbach whose extravagant style was very different from any English church I’ve seen.
St. Barbara Kirche oder Hundertwasser-Kirche in Bärnbach
Therme Nova – SPA
Visiting the therme nova spa which has a brilliant heated pool and sauna.
Pibersein
Spending the afternoon at Piberstein lake where we went swimming and stand up paddle boarding (which is a lot easier on a flat lake than on the English sea, and the water’s a lot warmer too!)
Bundesgestüt Piber – Lipizzaner
Visiting Piber to see where the amazing Viennese Spanish riding school Lipizzaner horses are born and raised.
Minigolf
Above all, I was made to feel very welcome by Hanna, Luis and Pia and I feel privileged to have spent time as part of their family.
